The PGY-1 pharmacy residency program at Baystate Medical Center prepares you to practice in your chosen career path, whether clinical pharmacist, clinical pharmacy specialist, adjunct faculty member, or specialty resident/fellow. Our PGY1 pharmacy residency program is designed to be a balanced residency experience in the core areas of pharmacy practice. To accomplish this, the resident will develop their expertise through core, elective and longitudinal learning experiences. Core learning opportunities include Internal Medicine, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Adult Critical Care, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Medication Safety, Emergency Medicine, Investigational Drug Services and Hematology/Oncology. Elective opportunities include repeating any core rotation, Academia, Infectious Disease/Consult Service, Pediatric Critical Care, Psychiatry, and Rural Hospital rotation. Longitudinal experiences include Research, Inpatient Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Administration, Ambulatory Clinic and Education/Academia. Our affiliation with MCPHS University (Worcester Campus) will provide classroom teaching experiences as well as opportunities to precept pharmacy students on advanced clinical rotations. A Pharmacy Residents Teaching Seminar Program is offered to our pharmacy residents through cooperation with Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

The Baystate PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program participates in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program. Visit for more information. The BMC PGY-1 residency program has 5 positions available for 2015-2016. Submit applications through PhORCAS. The NMS program number for Baystate Medical Center's PGY-1 Pharmacy residency is 161413. Applications close January 2, 2015. All PhORCAS applications must include the following: College of Pharmacy transcript; 3 references completed using the PhORCAS reference form; Letter of Intent and Curriculum Vitae. In addition, please complete and upload the Applicant's Questionnaire for Pharmacy Residents to your PhORCAS application (found on the Baystate PGY1 pharmacy residency web site: The requirements for acceptance include: eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts, Pharm.D. degree, completed online application submitted by deadline.
