Residency Special Features:   The residency program at UTMB Health graduated its first resident in 1961 and has been accredited by ASHP since 1967.  The focus of our PGY1 residency program is inpatient/acute care.  Available rotations include internal medicine, medical ICU, surgical ICU, infectious diseases, neonatal ICU/pediatrics, solid organ transplant, emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, drug information, and practice management.  Students from four colleges of pharmacy complete rotations at our site.  Residency projects are presented as posters at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and as platform presentations at a regional residency conference.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Employment is contingent on a successful UTMB Health security clearance and pre-employment drug screen. Eligibility to work in the United States is required. A Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited institution is required before the residency’s start date in July.

Site Special Features:   UTMB is home to the oldest medical school in Texas. The campus is located on 84 acres overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Computerized physician order entry has been employed at UTMB Health since the mid-1990's. An integrated electronic medical record, Epic, is utilized in both the inpatient setting and the ambulatory clinics.
