Residency Special Features:   

Humana's program offers a broad range of programming and exposure to various aspects of managed care pharmacy. The program will provide the resident with foundational knowledge and skills within managed care, as well as, opportunities to grow business acumen. The program offerings include, but are not limited to, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Clinical Strategies and Patient Safety Programs, Medication Therapy Management, Sales and Segment Support, Clinical Pharmacy Review, Drug Information, Pharmacy Practice and Distribution, Pharmacy Operations, and Outcomes Research. The program introduces the resident to Humana's RightSource retail operations, provider networks, and trade relations and requires completion of a Teaching Certificate, resident project and a written manuscript. Leadership courses and opportunities to apply and strengthen managed care skills are included within the program. Residents will have the opportunity to be active team members with multiple responsibilities. Upon completion of the residency, the resident will be prepared for a position in a managed care organization and/or pharmacy benefit management company.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with experiential or internship based experience in managed care pharmacy practice preferred. The applicant should have Kentucky pharmacist licensure by September 1 within the program year. The applicant should be able to work in a team or individual capacity to achieve requirements for managed care residency certification.
