Special Program Features:
The pharmacy technology course is an accelerated and intensive 2 semester program. Designed to educate and train students to be the best trained pharmacy technicians. A certificate is awarded upon completion of 34 semester hours of pharmacy technology, and an associate degree in applied science can be earned upon completion of 32 semester hours in liberal arts. The program was the first college in Michigan to be accredited by ASHP. Course work includes didactic and hands-on in both laboratory and classroom. Students learn computer skills early as e-learning is used in most of the didactic teaching, e.g., pharmacology, generic/trade name medications, and pharmacy practice in both hospitals and community pharmacy. Training is also supported with videos and personal help from outside pharmacy employees speaking to our students. Our students are prepared to take the national (PTCB) Certification Test.
Acceptance Requirements:
High school diploma or GED and with a passing score of the Pharmacy Technology Assessment of the perspective student. Personal interview is also required.
General Location Training Sites:
