Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the program is to develop pharmacist clinicians who are prepared and confident to pursue direct and indirect patient care careers within a health-system.During residency training the resident will develop a broad range of functional job skills and direct patient care skills, including antimicrobial stewardship, drug therapy monitoring, pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulant dosing and monitoring, renal dose modification, patient and provision of drug information. Residents will have opportunities to interact directly with patients, healthcare professionals and hospital leaders. Residents will also have the opportunity to provide education to patients, pharmacists and other health care professionals. Beaumont Hospital, Troy's program stresses active learning by the resident with support from the preceptors. The program strives to align with the needs and goals of the resident, based on background, previous experiences, pharmacy practice interests, and self-identified strengths and weaknesses of the candidate. The program supports the resident's participation in the Wayne State University Pharmacy Resident Teaching Certificate Program. The resident will also gain teaching experience by precepting I-PPE students from Wayne State University.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Completed PhORCAS application, including: Letter of Intent, Michigan Pharmacist license (or eligible), College of Pharmacy Academic Transcript, Curriculum Vitae, 3 letters of recommendation (additional letters will not be accepted or evaluated)

The Pharmacy department is actively involved with in medication management, multidisciplinary patient care and precepting pharmacy students.
