Residency Special Features:   

Residents will have the opportunity to train in a private practice teaching facility with a multi-disciplinary focus, the resident will be prepared to practice in a variety of settings. They will have the chance to practice in larger hospitals, smaller hospitals, and ambulatory environments. The residents will be part of a pharmacy program that is dedicated to quality of care, patient safety, and improvement through growth and change. Respected clinicians provide patient care in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, neonatology, critical care, infectious diseases, nutrition support, psychiatry, oncology, automation/technology, ambulatory care, and practice management. Rotations are scheduled to meet the needs and interests of individual residents. Opportunities exist for experiential and didactic teaching of health-care professionals and a teaching certificate in conjunction with the University of Kansas is a core component of the program.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

PharmD Degree, college transcript, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, eligibility for Kansas licensure, and onsite interview.

Via Christi is comprised of 5 facilities and numerous clinics within Wichita and the surrounding area. It includes a level 1 trauma center, greater than 100 ICU beds, a burn ICU, and an active oncology unit including a BMT program. A full range of inpatient and outpatient services are available including ambulatory care services with practice embedded in clinic settings with active collaborative practice agreements in place. Via Christi Health System was ranked among the top 50 health systems in the U.S. by Thomson Reuters and among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation by Health Grades. Via Christi has also been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. for making the greatest progress in improving hospital-wide performance over five consecutive years. Via Christi is involved in the training of numerous health-care providers and is affiliated with, and providing experiential learning opportunities for, the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Creighton Schools of Pharmacy. We are also affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and serve as a primary site for the training of medical students and residents.
