Residency Special Features:   The PGY-1 program at Oakwood Hospital – Dearborn will foster the development of new pharmacy practitioners and prepare them for career advancement, PGY2 residency training and board certification. Residents will complete 8 required rotations (Orientation, Administration, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cardiology, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Nephrology) and choose from elective rotations in Geriatrics, Oncology, and Teaching. Longitudinal program requirements include precepting of Pharm.D. students, completion of research project, MUE, and extended rotations in ambulatory clinics (HIV, ID, oncology, and diabetes). There is also a teaching certificate opportunity provided through Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Site Special Features:   Now part of the new Beaumont Health, Oakwood Hospital – Dearborn is being reintroduced as Beaumont Hospital – Oakwood Campus. This 632-bed full-service teaching hospital and level 2 trauma center offers state-of-the-art emergency medicine, general medicine and surgery. Oakwood - Dearborn is home to three medical residencies, Dermatology, Otolaryngology, and Urology in partnership with the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Oakwood - Dearborn provides excellent acute care with more open-heart surgeries than any other hospital in metro Detroit. This campus is also the hub for Oakwood's centers of excellence in Heart & Vascular, Orthopedics and Neurosciences, Women's Health and The Center for Cancer Care. The facility is accredited by The Joint Commission and received a coveted Gold Seal of Approval since 2007 for its Total Joint Replacement Program and is a certified Stroke Center. Pharmacy services utilize a centralized distributive model with a satellite in the OR and are supported by a fully electronic medical record (Epic) and Pyxis dispensing cabinets. A variety of clinical services are offered, including pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation, antimicrobial stewardship, renal dosing, IV to PO conversions, Code Blue response, medication reconciliation, patient education and participation in patient care rounds.
