The residency program at Marion General Hospital is newly established in 2016 and creates an opportunity for resident involvement in the further development of the program consistent with system goals and objectives. The pharmacy staff takes personal interest in the clinical and administrative training of the residents. The program is tailored to fulfill the resident's individual interests and goals within ASHP accreditation standards. Residents actively participate in staff development programs for clinically oriented services. Longitudinal ambulatory care training enables the resident to establish individual relationships with patients and other health care professionals. Pharmacy residents complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification sponsored by the American Heart Association, enabling them to effectively participate on code blue, trauma alerts and other patient care emergencies. There are several elective options and project opportunities to allow residents to pursue individual interests.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:

For more than 4 generations, Marion General Hospital has provided award-winning care for north central Ohio. This 170 bed non-profit community hospital, along with Marion Medical Campus outpatient facility, is a distinguished member of the OhioHealth healthcare system. Our level II trauma center treats 50,000 patients annually and provides exceptional triage when patients require transport to our larger OhioHealth facilities. The Society of Chest Pain Centers has deemed Marion General Hospital an Accredited Chest Pain Center. Open heart surgery, angioplasty, and cardiac catheterization are only a few services offered by our nationally recognized heart and vascular program. The 26 bed behavioral health unit provides multi-disciplinary treatment during acute inpatient hospitalizations and intensive outpatient services. Outpatient pharmacy services include an anticoagulation clinic, readmission reduction program, and an oncology/infusion center. Pharmacy services also offers a meds-to-beds program, which incorporates bedside delivery of discharge prescriptions and patient education along with medication reconciliation. Additionally, Marion General offers a Level II Nursery for select high-risk mothers and newborns. Our highly tenured staff collectively rotate through a variety of clinical roles and are actively involved in hospital and system-wide committees. At Marion General Hospital our pharmacists are an integral part of the healthcare team.
