Residency Special Features:   

The Riverside Methodist Hospital Department of Pharmacy has had approximately 40 years of experience in training pharmacy residents. The 12-month program is tailored to fulfill the resident's individual interests and goals within ASHP accreditation standards. The focus of this residency is to train individuals to lead oncology practice change at community centers and practice as clinical experts in the field of oncology pharmacy. The resident will actively participate in staff development programs and system-level decision making. Longitudinal ambulatory care training enables the resident to establish individual relationships with patients and other health care professionals. There are several elective options and project opportunities to allow residents to pursue individual interests.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency program, PharmD or equivalent experience and eligibility for licensure in Ohio, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, official college transcripts, and letter of intent. Application materials must be submitted via PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application).

Riverside Methodist Hospital is the largest acute care hospital of OhioHealth– a privately owned, nonprofit health-system based out of Central Ohio. With pharmacy programs designed to impact patient outcomes (e.g., reduced readmissions, improved medication compliance, reduced adverse events, etc.), the department has a clear focus on creating and sustaining a patient-centered medical care model. Complete unit dose and i.v. admixture services are provided from the centralized area on a 24-hour basis utilizing advanced robotic technology and automated dispensing cabinets. The department operates an established decentralized pharmacist and medication history programs with satellites serving the critical care, emergency, surgery, oncology, and neuroscience infusion areas. Pharmacists participate in all code blue, stroke, trauma, and sepsis emergency responses. Specialties include, but are not limited to: anticoagulation services, medicine, critical care, cardiology, outpatient congestive heart failure clinic, OB/GYN, oncology, neonatal intensive care, nephrology, neurology, outpatient infusion, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, and surgery. Pharmacy ambulatory care arenas include anticoagulation, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and asthma.
