Multisite: Ascension Medical Group (aka Via Christi Clinic) includes more than 150 family practice and specialty physicians practicing across 14 locations in Wichita and the surrounding areas. The clinic is the state's largest multi-specialty group practice. Additionally, Ascension Via Christi Hospital is associated with 2 medical residency clinics which train family medicine and specialty practice resident physicians. A common electronic health record is used across all of Ascension Via Christi, including hospitals and clinics, allowing easy access to both inpatient and outpatient labs and other records to promote continuity of care.
Residency Special Features:   Residents will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of ambulatory care practice settings including primary care, cystic fibrosis, heart failure, COPD, transitions of care, diabetes education, and anticoagulation. They will have exposure to various practice types including collaborative practice, interdisciplinary team-based care and indigent care clinics. Pharmacists at Ascension Via Christi practice under collaborative practice agreements (CPAs) with primary care physicians and cardiologists, and the resident will also practice under a CPA. Additionally the resident will be involved in the education of PharmD students, PGY1 pharmacy residents, and resident physicians.
