Residency Special Features:   This program provides the resident an opportunity to work with a preceptor staff of various backgrounds and interests, enabling the resident to observe different practice styles. These experiences will help the resident develop an integrated approach to patient management. Areas of excellence include ambulatory anticoagulation center, cardiology/critical care, drug information, infectious disease, investigational drug services management, trauma/surgery, oncology, pediatrics/neonatology, and family practice. Flexibility is stressed throughout the program to meet the needs and interests of the individual residents. Oral and written skills are further developed through various forms of presentations throughout the year.

Site Special Features:   Lutheran General Hospital is a 600-bed teaching hospital serving the northwest Chicago and suburban areas. In addition to its medical/surgical services, the hospital also provides CCU, renal dialysis, adult and adolescent psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatric and newborn ICU, trauma, cancer care, and physical medicine specialty services. Lutheran General offers medical residencies in eight specialty areas. The pharmacy provides clinical and hospital clerkship rotations to pharmacy students from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and Chicago College of Pharmacy.
