Residency Special Features:   The flexible general pharmacy residency allows the resident to tailor activities to specific interests. Residents will work closely with administrative staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations of a community-based tertiary care setting. Rotational experiences are available in internal medicine, drug information, emergency medicine, trauma care, infectious disease, general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, pharmacokinetics, palliative care, critical care, cardiology, ambulatory care, etc. The resident will participate in numerous committees and department-specific QA initiatives. Teaching opportunities are available with Pharm.D. students as well as in pharmacy, nursing, and medical resident in-services.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Michigan.All application materialsmust be submitted via PhORCAS and include a letter of intent, three references, an official college of pharmacy transcript, and a curriculum vitae.

Site Special Features:   Bronson Methodist Hospital is a major teaching/referral center and health care resource for southwest Michigan and northern Indiana. Regional programs include burn care, neonatology, hemophilia, pediatrics, oncology, outpatient surgery, and trauma. We are a Level 1 trauma center as well as a comprehensive stroke center. Also of interest are the home and ambulatory i.v. therapy programs, numerous outpatient clinics with ambulatory pharmacists, and hospital wide decentralization of pharmacists. Medical education is growing significantly and includes surgery, orthopedics, family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, and emergency medicine medical residency programs as well as medical students from the Western Michigan University College of Medicine.
