Residency Special Features:   A flexible, comprehensive program in an acute-care setting designed to develop a resident's advanced pharmaceutical care skills. Required rotations include medical ICU, infectious diseases, internal medicine, coronary ICU/cardiology, and drug information (longitudinal). Electives include nephrology, neonatal ICU/pediatrics, general surgery, surgical ICU, pain management, transitions of care, geriatrics, emergency medicine, administration, oncology, anticoagulation clinic, and ambulatory care at a sister hospital (diabetes). Residents receive an academic appointment to the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and participate in didactic instruction of pharmacy students at the College. Successful graduates of this residency have gone on to pursue careers in clinical patient care, academia, and industry, with others advancing to PGY2 training, and even medical school. Residents will earn a teaching certificate and have opportunities to serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
