Residency Special Features:   The PGY-1 position provides opportunities for residents to enhance their abilities to provide effective pharmaceutical care in a wide variety of settings. The residents participate in the design of their residency plans, which reflect their interests and previous educational and professional experiences.
These pharmacists will exercise skill in educating and communicating with other health care professionals, patients, and caregiverson topics relating to patient care. They will demonstrate professional maturity by assessing their own performance, exhibiting commitment to the profession, and exercising leadership in improving the safety of the medication-use system. Required learning experiences include: central pharmacy training, leadership, two critical care experiences, infectious disease, pain management and internal medicine.
Required longitudinal experiences include research and staffing. Pharmacy residents have an opportunity to complete four additional elective learning experiences. Experiences are generally four weeks long.

The pharmacy is located in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility that is USP 797 compliant on the 13th floor of the hospital. There are adequate facilities for all pharmacy operations, a separate general sterile products preparation area, a separate cancer chemotherapy prep area, and office/conference areas for all staff.
