Residency Special Features:   JFK's comprehensive residency program provides care to acute, pediatric, geriatric, and rehabilitation patients. The program integrates PGY1 pharmacy residents into the medication use process so that they develop a firm understanding of the clinical, distributive, and administrative aspects of the pharmacy profession. Upon completion of the residency program, the resident will have developed into a clinical pharmacist responsible for the medication- related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. The resident will be eligible for board certification and qualified for a postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency program if desired. Learning experiences offered are Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Drug Information, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neuro Critical Care, Medication Safety, Administration, Service, Infectious Disease, Pediatrics, and Ambulatory Care. The submission and presentation of a major research project is a requirement of the program.

Site Special Features:   Founded in 1967, JFK Medical Center is a non-profit community hospital, serving the residents of Middlesex, Union and Somerset counties in central New Jersey. The hospital is located approximately 30 miles from New York City. JFK offers a complete array of advanced services; including general and specialized surgery, neuroscience, oncology, critical and cardiac care, maternity and pediatric care, and 94-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The newly renovated emergency department sees 87,000 patients annually. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission and has received a special designation as Comprehensive Stroke Center. The pharmacy is a teaching site for Rutgers College of Pharmacy students.
