Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the PGY1 residency is to prepare graduates for a PGY2 residency position, general entry level clinical pharmacist, and/or academic position. This program is focused on pharmacotherapy and research clinical practice learning opportunities with an enhanced exposure to psychiatric patient population. The resident will be exposed to research and clinical studies, retrospective database analysis, psychiatric education, and protocol writing. Required rotations include practice management, clinical pharmacy services, drug information and general medicine. Elective rotations can be completed within the Buffalo Psychiatric Center, or with our affiliated sites, such as the DENT Neurologic Institute, Niagara Hospice, and Erie County Medical Center.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy and must be eligible for licensure in New York State. Pharm.D. or equivalent experience; eligible for licensure in NYS; and completed application through PhORCAS (which include CV, letter of intent, 3 letter of recommendation, and transcripts).

Outpatient Services - 10 community-based mental health clinics serving 2100+ persons per year. Residential Services - 1 Residential Care Center for Adults (103 beds), 3 State Operated Community Residences (total 62 beds), a Family Care Program with over 75 family care homes. Combined these residential programs serve over 400 persons per year. Affiliations with the UB School of Pharmacy for a teaching certificate, medication therapy management certification, and involvement with precepting pharmacy students during clinical rotations.
