The PGY1 pharmacy residency at Erie County Medical Center Corporation is an ASHP accredited post-graduate year 1 residency program which provides twelve months of training in advanced areas of acute care pharmacy practice.  The goal of this program is to develop future leaders in acute care pharmacy practice who will practice autonomously as an integral member of the health-care team in the clinical pharmacy setting and or as a clinical faculty member in the academic setting in a professional ethical and competent manner.

The residency year consists of several block rotations, longitudinal learning experiences, at least one research project, and a staffing experience.  Other experiences available to residents include a teaching certificate program offered through the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a didactic research class, and support for travel to at least 1 professional meeting.  Other rotations or experiences may be available based on resident’s interest and availability of preceptors.
