Residency Special Features:   This program places an emphasis on pharmaceutical care which is provided by participation in pharmacy-managed anticoagulation/epogen clinic, primary care medication management clinic. Other learning experiences exist through drug-use evaluation, psychiatry, antibiotic surveillance, pharmacy practice management, adverse drug reaction monitoring, long-term care, and investigational drugs.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Citizenship, Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy. Eligible for licensure from any state within 2 months of acceptance.

Site Special Features:   The Northport VAMC is a tertiary care facility located on the north shore of Long Island. Medical, surgical, and psychiatric care programs are provided in acute and long-term treatment models, including a rehabilitation center, a 10-bed intensive care unit, a 12-bed post-traumatic stress disorder unit, and 126 nursing home beds. Pharmacy provides comprehensive computerized and automated distributive services. Northport VAMC is affiliated with the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Albany College of Pharmacy and St. John’s University College of Pharmacy.
