Residency Special Features:   

Pharmacy residents will find a setting to learn from which embraces teamwork within the department and throughout the hospital. The program is primarily clinical in nature with exposure to centralized pharmacy, sterile product preparation, and decentralized medication cabinet distribution system. The pharmacy resident's required areas of training include staffing, internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, anticoagulation, ambulatory care, research, and pharmacy administrative leadership. The resident may elect additional training with services such as emergency medicine, geriatrics, oncology, and other areas of hospital pharmacy practice.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. graduate from an accredited program, eligibility for NY licensure, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation.

Site Special Features:   Rochester General Hospital is a 528 bed acute care hospital and is the largest hospital within the Rochester Regional Health System. The Rochester General Hospital Department of Pharmacy operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacists provide care using both a centralized and decentralized approach. The department has a 797 compliant IV admixture room and uses medication dispensing stations throughout the hospital which are fully integrated into the hospital’s electronic medication system, part of the hospital’s electronic medical record system. Enhanced clinical pharmacy services are provided in internal medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, critical care, anticoagulation, and emergency medicine.
