The Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center is designed to provide the essential elements and knowledge to mold a successful clinical pharmacy specialist. This intensive training program involves providing optimal medication management to critically ill patients in the medical, surgical, burn/trauma, neuro, and cardiovascular intensive care units. Additional experiences in emergency medicine, code response, toxicology, and nutrition support will also be provided. Teaching responsibilities and completion of research suitable for presentation are expected. Residents completing our program will demonstrate professional maturity, exhibit commitment to the profession, and exercise leadership in their field. UR Medicine is also the recipient of multiple ASHP Best Practices Award highlighting Innovative Clinical Practice.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

PharmD graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy; completion of or currently training in an ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice residency program; US citizen / carry a permanent resident visa; eligible for NYS licensure. Our programs use PhORCAS for application submission. Applicants generally require the following items to be submitted: letter of intent stating goals and interests, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference submitted via PhORCAS using standardized form and official college transcripts uploaded to PhORCAS.

UR Medicine, doing business as Strong Memorial Hospital, is an 846+ bed academic medical center and the region's only Level 1 trauma center that provides a comprehensive range of general and highly specialized clinical services. The hospital offers burn services, advanced acute stroke services, medical oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, an extensive cardiovascular center, pediatric services including a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, bone marrow and solid-organ transplantation, and ambulatory care.
