Residency Special Features:   *NMS Code 152813 - traditional PGY1 pharmacy residency; . The goal of the inpatient pharmacy residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center is to provide a 12-month, full-time curriculum that provides the essential elements needed to mold a well-rounded clinical pharmacist. The resident’s schedule includes core rotations and elective options. Core rotations include: Internal medicine (8 weeks), Cardiology (4 weeks), Critical Care (4 weeks – resident is able to choose from several critical care options such as NeuroICU, MICU, SICU etc.), and Ambulatory Care (4 weeks – resident is able to choose from several options such as Transplant, Psychiatry, Oncology, Internal Medicine etc.). The resident will also have the option to complete other elective rotations in addition to the core ones. Other longitudinal rotations including research, management, teaching / education and pharmacy practice are also integral components of the program. Opportunities to precept students is also available. Part III Waiver for New York State licensure is available for Matched Applicants. UR Medicine is the recipient of multiple ASHP Best Practices Award highlighting Innovative Clinical Practice.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   PharmD graduates from an accredited pharmacy college; US citizen / carry a permanent resident visa; eligible for NYS licensure. Our programs use PhORCAS for application submission. Applicants generally require the following items to be submitted: letter of intent stating goals and interests, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference submitted via PhORCAS using standardized form and official college transcripts uploaded to PhORCAS.

Site Special Features:   UR Medicine, doing business as Strong Memorial Hospital, is an 846+ bed academic medical center and the region’s only Level 1 trauma center that provides a comprehensive range of general and highly specialized clinical services. The hospital offers burn services, advanced acute stroke services, medical oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, an extensive cardiovascular center, pediatric services including a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, bone marrow and solid-organ transplantation, and ambulatory care.
