Residency Special Features:   The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Montefiore Medical Center seeks to develop a pharmacist into a more highly trained, competent and confident health-system pharmacy practitioner. The resident will be accountable for achieving positive and safe patient outcomes as a member of an interdisciplinary health-care team through the provision of Pharmaceutical Care and the education of patients and health care professionals. Program allows for added emphasis on drug therapy outcomes, professional development, writing/publishing and research activities depending upon the individual resident's plan. Health-system clinical pharmacy specialists serve as preceptors for residents throughout core learning experiences in acute and ambulatory care pharmacy practice and practice management. Residents are actively involved in all aspects of the management of centralized and decentralized pharmacy services. A major project is required.
