Residency Special Features:   The Lebanon VA provides a well balanced residency experience. Upon completion of core rotations you can choose to focus electives in ambulatory care, acute care, or stay with a balanced mix. Core rotations include ambulatory care (MTM), acute care, drug information, management, hospital pharmacy practice, teaching, and longitudinal care. Elective experiences may include psychiatry (inpatient and/or outpatient), outpatient oncology, home based primary care, hospice/palliative care, advanced diabetes, pharmacotherapy, anticoagulation, team based primary care (PACT), emergency department, and others depending on interests and needs. Residents also have an option of completing one elective rotation off-site at nearby Hershey Medical Center in practice areas such as pediatrics, transplant, or critical care. The rotation schedule is flexible allowing residents to tailor the program to meet their educational goals.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   U.S. citizenship, Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent experience, pharmacist license from any state in the United States, participation in the ASHP Resident Matching Program, academic transcript(s), curriculum vitae, letter of intent, 3 letters of recommendation, and application for federal employment.

Site Special Features:   Lebanon VAMC is a teaching hospital affiliation with Penn State University Medical Center. Located in the Dutch Country of Central Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes from Hershey- the chocolate capital, Lebanon has a friendly, warm atmosphere and relatively low cost of living. Major metropolitan areas of Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, and Washington DC are easily accessible with a reasonable drive. Varieties of outdoor activities are here to enjoy. Golf, hunting, hiking, skiing, fishing, and biking are very popular amongst staff.
