Residency Special Features:   

Program is conducted at a major acute care center, including level 1 trauma. Pharmacy services are comprehensive, decentralized with five critical care satellites. The specialized residency in critical care emphasizes an integrated approach to the application of advanced clinical and administrative skills. Residents will participate in required and elective rotations and refine skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to achieve patient care goals. Program is flexible and tailored to resident experience and goals. Participation in practice research, medication-use evaluations, formulary and practice guideline development, and various teaching programs are required. An elective teaching certificate program is offered.

AGH is located on Pittsburgh's north side and cares for patients in a variety of acute care settings, including emergency medicine and medical, cardiac, cardiothoracic, trauma and neurosurgical ICUs. The pharmacy services department emphasizes professional development in a progressive environment, is supported by a full-service drug information center and is an ACPE-approved provider of continuing education. Residents will participate in a flexible program that has a variety of experiences tailored to resident interests and career goals. Additional experiences include journal clubs, continuing education program development, teaching and student mentorship, inter-disciplinary education, and participation on multi-disciplinary committees to develop medication-use initiatives.
