Residency Special Features:   The Broward Health Medical Center Pharmacy Practice Residency Program is accredited by The American Society of Health System Pharmacists. It a 12 months full-time practice commitment program, utilizing various modalities to help the pharmacy resident become a well-rounded clinical practitioner. Broward Health Medical Center (BHMC) Pharmacy Residents will participate in operational, clinical, and administrative pharmacy experiences. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, residents will be exposed to a wide variety of practice environments such as Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Diseases, Nutritional Support, and Pediatrics/Neonatology among others. Residents may choose from a large selection of electives including but not limited to Adult/Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pharmacy Informatics, Ambulatory Care, Emergency Medicine, Liver Transplant, Psychiatry, Research Pharmacy Services, and Pediatric/Neonatal Intensive Care. The various facilities throughout Broward Health provide excellent exposure for residents in many areas of specialized medicine. There are opportunities to expand and enhance knowledge base via training with an emphasis in acute care, ambulatory care, or pediatric care. Longitudinal experiences focusing on Pharmacy Administration/Medication Safety, Clinical Pharmacy Coordination, Organ Transplantation, and Academia/Teaching Certificate are integrated into the program. Residents are required to complete an individual clinical research project, which is presented at the Florida Residency Conference. The residents will also have the opportunity to precept Pharm.D. students throughout the year.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Broward Health Medical Center participates in the ASHP Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS™). Applications will only be accepted via PhORCAS™. Prospective residents must be registered in PhORCAS™ in order to submit the following required application materials by January 10th of each year for consideration:
1. A letter of intent that includes the candidate's goals and objectives for completion of BHMC's ASHP-accredited program
2. Curriculum Vitae
3. Three letters of recommendation completed online through PhORCAS. One of the letters should be authored by a faculty member
4. An official-sealed transcript from the College(s) of Pharmacy where the candidate is expected to graduate or graduated from.

Note: The resident must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College of Pharmacy, and be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida.

After receipt of all the required materials, selected applicants will be contacted for an on-site interview. During the interview the applicant is required to:

1. Deliver a 10 minute Power Point presentation on a pharmacy-related topic of their choice
2. Achieve a passing score in a clinical assessment exam of 15 questions
