Residency Special Features:   The resident will become confident and independent by developing critical thinking skills necessary to provide specialized, patient-focused care. Required rotations include: pediatrics, PICU, NICU, hematology/oncology, distribution/clinical operations, practice management, and ambulatory care. Some of the electives offered include: bone marrow transplant, emergency medicine, cardiac ICU, infectious disease, and gastroenterology. Pharmacy and several medical residency programs provide opportunities to develop teaching and presentation skills. Activities include: a research project suitable for publication and presentation at a professional meeting, medication use evaluation, and an ACPE-accredited CE presentation.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   PharmD degree, Florida licensure eligibility, PGY-1 or equivalent experience, CV, 3 letters of recommendation utilizing standard form in PhORCAS (1 from clinical pharmacist, 1 from Residency Program Director), transcripts, essay discussing motivation for obtaining pediatric training, including goals and objectives for the next 2-5 years.

Site Special Features:   Walt Disney World contributed $10 million towards an expansion project which increased the total number of beds to 230 and was completed in 2011. Located in Orlando, the hospital is comprised of a Level III NICU, PICU, CICU, Hematology/Oncology Unit, an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, a General Medical/Surgical Unit, a Procedural Sedation Unit and Central Florida's only Renal, Liver, and Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Programs.
