Residency Special Features:   

The PGY1 Residency at West Kendall Baptist Hospital (WKBH) is designed to provide a strong foundation for pharmacy practice in a community teaching hospital environment. The WKBH Department of Pharmacy Services is designed in accordance with the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Advancement Model, around a patient-centered contemporary practice model that integrates drug distribution with the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services. Residents are trained by Clinical Staff Pharmacists, Clinical Specialists and Pharmacy Leaders in a program designed to foster professional growth and independence while providing mentorship and supervision. Core rotations include Adult Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Practice Management, Transition of Care, Pharmacy Administration and Medication Safety/Quality. Ambulatory Care and Research are longitudinal rotations. Elective rotation choices include: Infectious Disease, Hospitalist, Medical Subspecialties, Performance Improvement/Utilization Review, Family Medicine Clinic, and Education. Residents have the option to pursue a Teaching Certificate from Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Candidates for this residency must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and Florida licensure (or eligible). Applicants are required to submit the following documents: a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation utilizing standard form required by PhORCAS™
