Residency Special Features:   This is a PGY1 residency program that provides residents the opportunity to work in the hospital pharmacy; however, it is designed to develop skills essential for contemporary ambulatory care pharmacy practice. The primary site is the Turley Family Health Center and includes multidisciplinary family medicine clinics and pharmacist-managed disease state management clinics. Our program allows experiences in a broad range of patient care activities. The center has family medicine faculty with extensive experience in a variety of fields, including and not limited to pediatrics, geriatrics, adolescent medicine, clinical psychology, obstetrics, gynecology, and sports medicine. Hospital sites within BayCare have clinical pharmacists and clinical coordinators with expertise in a variety of fields including and not limited to cardiology, infectious disease, nutrition, geriatrics, pediatrics, oncology, neurology, critical care, surgery, internal medicine, and transitions of care.
The program provides residents with the opportunity to work with physicians and mid-level providers to ensure rational prescribing of medications, work with patients to enhance their knowledge of the medications they receive, and partner with nurses and medical assistants to improve the overall safety of medication use. Site Special Features:   The primary site for our residency program is the Turley Family Health Center (TFHC), our outpatient center. It is equipped with an electronic medical record integrated with that of our hospital system, computers in each of the 36 exam rooms, a wireless network, seven procedure rooms, spacious waiting rooms, and on-site laboratory and imaging services. Upstairs we have a lecture hall for daily noon conferences, a library, a conference room, and desk/office space for each resident.

We perform approximately 25,000 office visits annually at the TFHC and take a comprehensive approach to health care. Our family physicians provide complete health care for all age groups – infants through senior citizens. This includes pediatric care, obstetrical and gynecologic services, sports medicine, dermatology, psychology and geriatrics. We treat the “whole person” – taking care of everything from medical check-ups to serious illness, while also focusing on preventative medicine and well-care.

The Turley Family Health Center is also the home of the University of South Florida-Morton Plant Mease Family Medicine Residency Program. Our resident physicians are a vital part of our practice. These skilled physicians were carefully selected and provide state-of-the-art health care.
