Residency Special Features:   

The residency in Health System Administration is a 12-month program that is a candidate for accreditation by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. This residency is for selected, highly motivated and qualified pharmacists. The resident will focus on areas such as productivity, budgeting, customer service, inventory control, clinical service expansion, practice model assessment, staff development, procurement, and much more. A variety of elective rotations are available to tailor the elective months of the residency to the resident's needs. The resident is integrated with the Jackson Health-System Pharmacy Administration services with exposure to a large academic county facility and retail pharmacy services. The resident is also involved in teaching and research activities.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Pharm.D. degree, completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency or equivalent experience and eligibility for licensure in Florida. Phorcase Application must be submitted including Curriculum Vitae, 3 letters of recommendation and a letter of intent.

Jackson Memorial Hospital is an accredited, non-profit, tertiary care hospital and the major teaching facility for the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. With more than 1,550 licensed beds, Jackson Memorial Hospital is a referral center for medical research, and home to Ryder Trauma Center - the only adult and pediatric Level 1 trauma center in Miami-Dade County. The Pharmacy consists of over 200 employees providing comprehensive inpatient services with practitioners assuming critical roles in the training of healthcare professional students and residents. Outpatient services are delivered via a retail pharmacy, a specialty pharmacy, primary care clinics, and an outpatient cancer center. Extensive technology exists throughout the medication management system and pharmacy operations: CPOE, BCMA, eMAR, and automated IV admixture. The Pharmacy department is affiliated with several colleges of pharmacy and provides practice experiences for students annually, in addition to multiple residency programs.
