Residency Special Features:   

The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Medical Center of Trinity is dedicated to providing a personalized residency experience. The primary emphasis will be on the development of clinical competencies, professional confidence, and leadership and professional skills. Residents will be delegated clinical responsibilities under the preceptorship of a residency preceptor to develop their practice skills. Residents will be given teaching responsibilities to further develop communication skills and abilities as a teacher. Residents will participate in research and service activities to further develop problem-solving skills and ability to work with others. Rotations offered include Orientation, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Neonatal ICU, Pharmacy Administration, Cardiology (Northside Hospital and Heart Institute) , Drug Information (HCA West Florida Division) , Emergency Medicine, Medication Safety, Nutritional Support, Pharmacy Informatics (HCA West Florida Division), Transplant (Largo Medical Center), Trauma (Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point). In addition to concentrated clinical rotations, residents will be involved in the following longitudinal experiences: Major research/service project Manuscript of project, which must be eligible for journal publishing Poster presentation at ASHP Midyear Meeting Presentation at Florida Residency Conference 1 hour Continuing education seminar Medication use evaluation Minimum of three journal clubs and three case presentations Staffing Administration (Medication Safety, Pharmacy & Therapeutics committees) Educational activities (Student topic discussion, Student presentations)
