Residency Special Features:   The purpose of the postgraduate year two (PGY2) pediatric residency program offered at JDCH is to build upon the foundation established during a PGY1residency, provide opportunities for the resident to function as an independent practitioner, and further develop clinical and leadership skills in specialized areas. Our program allows the resident the unique opportunity to customize the learning experience to the resident’s desired specialty area(s). Upon completion of the PGY2 program, graduates will be prepared for pediatric clinical specialty positions and board certification.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Applicants must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy, successfully complete a PGY1 residency program, be eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Florida, and submit a letter of intent, CV, official college transcript(s), and 3 letters of reference.

Site Special Features:   Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital (JDCH) is a freestanding hospital located in sunny Hollywood, Florida.  As 1 of 6 hospitals comprising the Memorial Healthcare System, JDCH provides a wide array of clinical services to pediatric patients in South Florida.  Decentralized pharmacists are integrated into services provided in the PICU, CVICU, NICU, ED, and inpatient and outpatient Oncology units.  Pharmacists and residents play an essential role as members of our Cardiac and Renal Transplant Committees,  Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Investigational Drug Services, Code and Trauma Response Team, and more.  Residents will have numerous opportunities to further strengthen their clinical and leadership skills throughout the residency year.  Through the use of the layered learning model, participation in the teaching certificate program, and collaboration with our pediatric medical residents and nurses, residents can hone their teaching and precepting skills.
