Residency Special Features:   This program offers the PGY1 resident flexibility in practicing in a wide variety of clinical areas. Core experiences include orientation/distribution, ambulatory care and internal medicine. Longitudinal learning experiences include administration, staffing, major project, and presentations. Elective learning experiences include geriatrics, infectious diseases, cardiology, spinal cord injury, oncology, psychiatry, pain, MICU, SICU and surgery. We are looking for highly motivated applicants with good verbal and written communication skills. Opportunities exist for assisting in precepting Pharm.D. students.

The James A. Haley VA Hospital & Clinics provides comprehensive health care through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, polytrauma, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. JAHVH consists of five facilities located in Tampa, New Port Richey, Zephyrhills, Lakeland and Brooksville, serving four counties in Central Florida. The Pharmacy Department boasts a progressive and young and highly motivated clinical pharmacy staff that is committed to pharmaceutical care. This large teaching and research hospital provides specialized residency training for over 400 health professionals. Teaching is also provided to medical and pharmacy students through affiliation with several major state universities including the University of Florida, University of South Florida, FAMU, NOVA, and LECOM Colleges of Pharmacy.
