Residency Special Features:   Thank you for your interest in the Department of Pharmacy at Baptist Hospital of Miami. The Department of Pharmacy’s mission is to provide our patients and individuals with safe, efficient, and cost effective pharmaceutical care and service excellence with utmost team pride and satisfaction. The Pharmacy Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Residency is a 12-month training program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program is designed to develop advanced skills in the areas of cardiology, oncology, critical care, emergency medicine, pediatrics and neuroscience. The residency builds on previous education and experience and is geared towards developing expert knowledge and skills in managing medication-use systems and optimizing drug therapy. The resident is integrated into the provision of comprehensive and advanced pharmacy services. During this training, residents precept Doctor of Pharmacy candidates from various pharmacy schools and are also required to present didactic lectures and drug therapy seminars. Residents have the option to participate in earning a teaching certificate through Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy (live) or University of Connecticut (online) program. Pharmacy residents completing this program will be capable of conducting their practice with a high level of maturity and leadership. The goal of the residency is to develop the resident into an effective, confident clinician and educator, and to enhance his/her professional and clinical skills. The residency program will equip the graduate with the competencies that enable attainment of board certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialty and/or PGY-2 specialty residency training.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Candidates for this residency must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy and Florida licensure (or eligible). Applicants are required to submit the following documents: a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation utilizing standard form required by PhORCAS™
