Residency Special Features:   The PGY1 residency program of Emory Healthcare utilizes the collective assets of the Emory Hospitals to train and educate residents in contemporary pharmacy practice in an organized health-care system so that the resident may:
- Function effectively as the pharmacist on the healthcare teams.
- Utilize practice management skills to promote rational and safe use of medications.
- Identify, prevent and resolve medication-related problems for patients in acute health care settings.
- Master personal development skills for life-long learning and professional growth.
- Gain skills in, as well as contribute to, teaching and research

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1880, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital (ESJH) is Atlanta’s oldest hospital. Pharmacy Services
The Department of Pharmacy is committed to providing exceptional care to the patients at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Inpatient services include comprehensive unit dose distribution and IV admixture, automated dispensing systems, investigational drug services, and decentralized pharmaceutical care. Pharmacists are members of the Code Response Team, participate in Critical Care patient rounds, provide nutrition support services, monitor all patients on anticoagulant therapy, educate patients being discharged on warfarin, and offer pharmacokinetic monitoring services to our patients.
