Residency Special Features:   

The PGY1 pharmacy residency gives an in depth experience in anticoagulation, cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, and nutrition support. In addition, electives are available in ambulatory care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, long term acute care, medication safety, pain management, pediatrics and specialty areas in critical care. As an opportunity to participate in didactic and experiential teaching the resident will present a continuing education lecture and precept pharmacy students. The goal of this residency is to provide educational and training experiences for pharmacists in contemporary pharmacy practice in an organized healthcare system.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Enrolled in final year of an accredited college of pharmacy AND/OR licensed by or eligible for licensure with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. If not licensed at the start of residency, the candidate must be licensed by August 31st of their residency year. Please see the residency website or contact the program for additional details.

WellStar Kennestone Hospital Department of Pharmacy utilizes automated drug delivery units throughout the hospital. We have a central pharmacy, Operating Room (OR) satellite and Outpatient Infusion Center (OPIC). In addition, pharmacists have workstations on patient care units and participate in physician-led inter- and multidisciplinary rounds. We have a clinical dietitian and over 14 clinical pharmacists including emergency department pharmacists, an infectious diseases pharmacist, a pain pharmacist and a pediatric pharmacist.
