Residency Special Features:   The PGY2 Neurology pharmacy residency program at Grady Health System is in pre-candidate status for ASHP accreditation. If accredited in 2017, this will be the second accredited neurology pharmacy specialty program in the nation. The program provides comprehensive and customized experiences within an array of inpatient and outpatient neuroscience areas including neurology clinics, neurointensive care, neuro-trauma, neurointerventions, neurology wards, neurosurgery, and others. The resident will complete one major research project and will have longitudinal teaching responsibilities throughout the year.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   ASHP accredited PGY1 residency, United States citizenship, PhORCAS™ application (application, letter of intent, official academic transcript (pharmacy school only), curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation), eligibility for licensure in Georgia. In addition to PhORCAS™ requirements, the program requires: -- 4 Recommendations which will utilize the Standardized Reference form provided in PhORCAS™ -- References should be from each of the following (1) Clinical Preceptor, (2) Clinical Preceptor (3) Recent supervisor or advisor (or similar), (4) anyone of the candidate's choice. The program also requires completion of the short answer questions that can be found on the Grady Neurology residency program website page. Please upload the responses in PhORCAS™.

Site Special Features:   GHS offers comprehensive medical care in Atlanta area via a tertiary care teaching hospital with 100 intensive care beds; 200 outpatient primary care and specialty clinics; and more than 300 emergency room visits per day. Grady has been Joint Commission Certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center) and is the busiest center in the nation for emergent thrombectomy cases with active involvement in clinical research. In addition, the hospital is one of the nation's busiest Level I Trauma centers.
