Residency Special Features:   

The PGY1 pharmacy residency provides in-depth experience in a broad range of pharmacy practice areas, including anticoagulation, parenteral nutrition, internal medicine, infectious diseases, critical care, emergency medicine, transitions of care, pain management/oncology, practice management, pediatrics, and ambulatory care. The resident will also have the opportunity to complete a research study, present a continuing education lecture, participate in the_experiential training of pharmacy students, and earn a teaching certificate. The goal of this residency is to provide educational and training experiences for pharmacists in contemporary pharmacy practice in an organized healthcare system.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Enrolled in final year of an accredited college of pharmacy or licensed by (or eligible for licensure with) the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. If not licensed at the start of the residency, the candidate must be licensed by August 31st of the residency year.

WellStar Cobb Hospital is ~30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, GA and is part of WellStar Health System. The hospital has stroke, cancer, and cardiac programs, emergency and intensive care services, an accredited total joint program, a burn unit, and a private maternity center. The hospital has a central pharmacy, OR satellite pharmacy, and an outpatient infusion center. Nine clinical pharmacy specialists and 5 unit-based pharmaceutical care pharmacists participate in interdisciplinary rounds with physicians and other disciplines to provide high-quality patient care.
