Residency Special Features:   A comprehensive residency designed to develop a competent, caring pharmacy practitioner and pharmacist preceptor/educator. Offered in conjunction with the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. The program is customized to meet the individual needs and goals of each resident. Experiences include drug information & medication policy, pediatrics, critical care, oncology, medicine, neurology, geriatric consulting, ambulatory care, cardiology, organ transplant, infectious disease, medication use evaluation, clinical research management, and graduate certificate (teaching, research). Approximately half of the program is elective experiences.
 
Fringe Benefits:   Twenty four days combined paid time off (PTO) and vacation time, FlexChoice insurance, free parking, educational travel allowance, professional leave for meeting attendance, tuition waiver for University of Georgia graduate courses, unused PTO may be "cashed in" at the end of the year.
 
Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, eligibility for Georgia licensure, PhORCAS online application process with supplemental materials—application form, letter of intent, at least 3 references (see website for details).

Site Special Features:   AU Medical Center is part of Augusta University Health (formerly known as MCG Health), the clinical enterprise for Augusta University and the Medical College of Georgia. The Medical Center serves as a primary clinical training site for the University of Georgia (UGA) Pharm.D. program. The health system provides a full range of services including a Children's Medical Center, Level IV regional neonatal intensive care, a renal transplantation program, a level I regional trauma center and pediatric trauma center, Georgia Cancer Center (with Phase 1 clinical trials unit), and medical office building with over 80 outpatient clinics. The pharmacy has ambulatory pharmacists practicing under collaborative agreements in primary care, digestive health, oncology as well as a pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic, clinical research pharmacy, and contract services to a long-term care facility. Residents are graduate teaching assistants for UGA and receive part of their stipend from the College of Pharmacy.
