Residency Special Features:   This residency in pharmacy practice is designed to provide postgraduate training in the provision of direct patient care to multiple patient populations. Residents will develop effective written and verbal communication skills in order to provide education to, and interact with, patients, students, and a multi-disciplinary team of health care providers. Site Special Features:   The Medical Center of Central Georgia is part of the Central Georgia Health System, Inc., and a primary affiliate and teaching site for Mercer University School of Medicine. The hospital has five medical residency programs (internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology) and an array of affiliated rural health centers. The Medical Center is also home of the Georgia Heart Center and the Children's Hospital, and has a Level 1 Trauma Center, as well as a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It has been designated a Top 100 Heart Hospital. The Pharmacy Department offers comprehensive pharmaceutical care from a central pharmacy and six satellites. It also operates an outpatient pharmacy and has pharmacy managed Anticoagulation, Lipid, Asthma, and Pharmacotherapy clinics.
