Residency Special Features:   The residency program is designed to train a selected, highly motivated and highly qualified pharmacist so that they are prepared to assume a clinical pharmacist position in a healthcare facility and/or advanced residency or fellowship in an area of pharmacy practice or research. The program is of a general clinical nature and is integrated with a centralized unit dose, IV additive and computer-assisted distribution systems. Learning opportunities exist in the areas of general medicine, nutrition support, general surgery, critical care, emergency medicine, and administration/medication safety. The program is flexible and will adapt to the needs and interests of each resident.
 
Fringe Benefits:   

Residents accrue 35 paid time off (PTO) days during the 12 month program. 10 days of PTO may be used for scheduled personal leave. The remaining PTO is available for illness, attendence at professional meetings and interviews. Residents receive payment for unused PTO at the completion of te residency program and departure from Duke. Health care insurance, office space, computer services, library access and a travel allowance are provided.

 
Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. required, pharmacy college transcript, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, cover letter, and completed application.
