Residency Special Features:   

As a member of the emergency department multidisciplinary team, the resident will work alongside emergency medicine physicians and medical residents to enhance their problem solving skills and professional judgment necessary to optimize drug therapy outcomes. The majority of the experience will occur in the 45 bed emergency department with an average of 68,000 patient visits/year. Other opportunities include, medical and neonatal intensive care, toxicology, medical resident education and precepting. Our purpose is to provide advanced practice skills to produce more proficient, confident and evidence based driven pharmacy clinicians in the emergency department setting.

Fringe Benefits:   

Health, dental, and vision insurance are offered after a 30 day probationary period, with accrual of paid time off. Residents also receive a travel allowance for ASHP Midyear and selected meetings. A computer and office space will be provided.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

Eligibility for North Carolina licensure, U.S. citizenship, letter of intent, college transcript, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, PharmD degree. Presentation at time of on-site interview is required.

Southeastern Health is a non-profit, community teaching hospital located in Lumberton, North Carolina. Southeastern Health's main campus includes Southeastern Regional Medical Center (SRMC), which houses our 45 bed emergency department. SRMC serves Lumberton a population of 21,000 and the surrounding Robeson County, a population of 134,000. The city is located along the Lumber River that is part of the North Carolina Natural Scenic River System and known for boating, fishing, camping, biking, and jogging. Lumberton is within a two-hour drive of North Carolina's beautiful beaches and about a four-hour drive to the mountains.
