CaroMont Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a 435-bed not-for-profit community hospital with services that include a Level III Trauma Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a freestanding Emergency Department to provide services throughout our community. Pharmacists completing this residency program are well-balanced pharmacist clinicians capable of providing evidence-based pharmacotherapy who thrive in both clinical and operational roles in a community hospital acute care setting or PGY2 residency program. Residents will gain experience through exposure to multiple patient populations (adult, pediatric, critically-ill, and ambulatory) and challenging learning experiences. This residency offers a flexible variety of required, elective, and longitudinal learning experiences. Learning experiences include orientation, internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, emergency medicine, infectious disease, pharmacy management, psychiatry, pediatrics/NICU, medication safety, surgery/OR and ambulatory care clinics (including an anticoagulation clinic). Residents will also participate in P&T Committee, medication use evaluations, serve as a co-preceptor to pharmacy students, and provide education to pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and patients. A resident mentoring program and leadership opportunities (including chief resident) promote professional growth. A dedicated pharmacy research committee guides the residents through their required year-long research project and preparation of a manuscript suitable for publication.
