Residency Special Features:   Our program allows residents opportunities for direct patient care experiences in the following areas: Internal medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Pediatrics, Nephrology, Neurology, Psychiatry,OR/surgical services, Emergency medicine, and Oncology. Additionally, opportunities such as precepting pharmacy students, preparing a major project and providing numerous presentations exist. Residents are involved in the whole medication use process, medication safety efforts, pharmacy administration and practice management throughout the year. Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast has a very progressive pharmacy department with pharmacist involvement providing direct patient across the continuum of the health system.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy, eligibility for pharmacist licensure in North Carolina (www.ncbop.org), U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident (i.e. have a U.S. Green Card). Individuals who require visa sponsorship are not eligible candidates for our residency program.Academic transcript, Curriculum Vitae, 3 letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent are required for application and must be submitted via Phorcas.

Site Special Features:   Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast is located 20 miles north of Charlotte and is a part of Atrium Health, the largest health system in the Carolinas. We offer general and specialty clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients. Our Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital has 5 bed Progressive Care Unit, 28 general beds as well as full nursery services including a NICU. Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast owns or is affiliated with many primary care and specialty clinics. Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast serves as a training site for Wingate School of Pharmacy and University of North Carolina Eshelman's School of Pharmacy and High Point University Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy.
