Residency Special Features:   The critical care residency at Palmetto Health Richland will transition PGY1 residency graduates from general practitioner to a specialized practice that meets the needs of critically ill patients. Residents become fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary critical care team, able to make complex medication and nutrition support recommendations in this fast-paced environment. Training focuses on developing the resident with the capabilities to understand a wide range of diseases and disorders that occur in the critically ill. The resident will gain experience in short-term research in the critical care environment and will also acquire the experience necessary to exercise leadership for critical care practice in the health system.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. from and accredited college of pharmacy, completion of a PGY1 residency, curriculum vitae, 3 letters of reference, and be eligible for licensure in South Carolina.

Critical care patient units include medical intensive care, surgical/trauma intensive care, medical/surgical step-down, coronary intensive care, and cardiovascular surgery intensive care.
