Residency Special Features:   Our program offers the resident a broad experience in providing care to critically ill patients. Rotations options include: Cardiovascular Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery ICU, Emergency Medicine, Infections Diseases, Management/Administration, Medical Critical Care, Neonatalology, Surgical Critical Care, and Trauma. Longitudinal experiences include: Research project, Teaching, and Code Blue team participation. Residents will have the opportunity to continue to build their clinical and leadership skills, and to assist in precepting both students and PGY1 residents.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Official School of Pharmacy transcript Three references submitted through PhORCASo References should be able to speak to clinical skills developed during direct patient care experiences and comment on at least 75% of the available comment fields. o A separate recommendation letter is not required.o Inclusion of PGY1 residency program director as a reference is strongly encouragedApplicants must have a PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy; completed (or currently completing) an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency, and be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Specific application requirements include:
  • Curriculum vitae (please include completed and anticipated PGY1 rotations
  • Letter of intent specific to Carilion; Please answer the following two questions
    • Why do you want to complete a PGY2 Internal Medicine residency?
    • Why do you want to continue your residency training at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital?
  • Official School of Pharmacy transcript
  • Three references submitted through PhORCAS
