Residency Special Features:   This Critical Care Residency emphasizes clinical services in various intensive care units with numerous opportunities for education and research. Practice sites include medical, cardiovascular, surgical, trauma, neurosurgical, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, infectious diseases, emergency medicine and toxicology. The resident will have an opportunity to teach critical care didactic lectures to internal medicine and surgical residents and precept pharmacy residents and students. Flexibility is stressed throughout our program to tailor the needs and interests of the candidate.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. degree and completion of an ASHP Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency. In addition to PhORCAS requirements for application the program requires the following:, ACLS certification, eligibility for licensure in Illinois, transcripts, letter of intent and 3 letters of recommendation from clinical faculty and preceptors.

Site Special Features:   Lutheran General Hospital is a 600-bed teaching hospital serving the northwest Chicago and suburban areas. In addition to its medical/surgical services, the hospital also provides CCU, renal dialysis, adult and adolescent psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatric and neonatal ICU, trauma, cancer care, and physical medicine specialty services. Lutheran General offers medical residencies in eight specialty areas. The pharmacy provides clinical and hospital clerkship rotations to pharmacy students from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and Chicago College of Pharmacy.
