Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, in conjunction with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, offers a one-year PGY2 Emergency Medicine residency designed to develop the expertise needed for practice in emergency medicine, including pharmacotherapy, toxicology, critical care and teaching. Core rotation include: adult emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine, critical care (Medical ICU, Surgical ICU), toxicology, and academia. elective Rotations are tailored to the resident's areas of interest and may include: infectious diseases, global health, internal medicine, Cardiac ICU, and Neuro ICU. The resident will have the opportunity to precept students and residents, conduct research projects and engage in leadership development. The residency will prepare graduates to pursue positions in emergency medicine and/or academic.

Site Special Features:   The Northwestern Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, an affiliate of Northwestern university Feinberg School of Medicine, is a Level 1 Trauma and Stroke center located in downtown Chicago, Illinois in the Streeterville neighborhood. The high-volume, high-complexity ED populations at this tertiary care center allow for a challenging and rewarding learning environment. In addition to clinical practice experiences, the PGY2EM will have the opportunity to engage in academic activities which include IPPE/APPE precepting as well as didactic and simulation-based instruction at Rosalind Franklin university of Medicine and Science College of Pharmacy.
