Residency Special Features:   This specialty residency will allow residents to practice in multiple pediatric sub-specialties, enhance critical thinking skills, conduct practice based research, and lead practice based quality initiatives. The resident will participate in an in-house clinical pharmacy on-call program, staffing in the pediatric pharmacy satellite, a resident research project, grand rounds (CE presentation), MUE, and committee involvement. Completion of a teaching certificate and a research certificate program are available to residents.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   PharmD from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency, PhorCAS application, curriculum vitae, letter of intent, 3 letters of recommendations, academic transcripts, and eligibility for Illinois pharmacist licensure.

Site Special Features:   The Rush University Children’s Hospital (RUCH) is comprised of 110-licensed beds with many pediatric services including an 18-bed PICU, a 60-bed Level III NICU, and a 20-bed General Pediatric unit. RUCH has a Fetal & Neonatal Medicine Center for congenital abnormalities, an Infant Cardiac Program performing about 80 cardiovascular surgeries yearly, a state of the art Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and is recognized as a center for excellence in pediatric ECMO and antimicrobial stewardship.
