Residency Special Features:   This PGY1 pharmacy practice residency program enables the resident to participate in diverse direct patient care rotations and ongoing experiential activities to achieve the resident's goals. The resident will be exposed to multiple patient care settings including acute care, ER, ICU, ambulatory care, long-term care, home-based primary care, oncology, and psychiatry. Pharmacy practice skills are enhanced by automation, electronic medical record, formulary management, investigational drug studies and performance improvement projects. Teaching opportunities include co-precepting students and presenting educational programs to allied health professionals.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Pharm.D. or equivalent experience, eligibility for licensure and US citizenship. Provide transcripts, curriculum vitae, and 3 letters of recommendation.

Site Special Features:   Located midway between Milwaukee and Chicago, the North Chicago VA medical center is affiliated with Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and additional universities. In addition to veterans, services are provided to Navy Department of Defense patients and family members for inpatient, pediatric, surgical and emergency room. Residents will meet periodically with other residents within the VA Great Lakes Health Care System and the Chicagoland Residency Conference.
