Residency Special Features:   

The residency is directed at providing experience in a broad area of pharmacy practice including ambulatory care, general medicine, infectious diseases, geriatrics and extended care, psychiatry, critical care, anticoagulation, and pharmacy administration. Resident presents journal clubs, in-services, and formal presentations and completes a major project of original investigation. The resident may also serve as preceptor for pharmacy clerkship students. The goal / purpose of the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program is to prepare pharmacist clinicians for patient care positions, adjunct faculty positions, or for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training in area of choice.

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   

U.S. citizenship, Pharm.D. degree or equivalent experience, eligibility for licensure in the United States, academic transcript, curriculum vitae, letter of interest, three letters of recommendation, and essay.
